The inaugural meeting of the Tyee Kennel Club took place on March 5, 1970, at the home of Henry and Ann MacHemer.
Attendees included the MacHemers, Bill and Arlene Fraser, Mr. and Mrs. W. Pitt, Doris Moulin, Betty Sommerfield, Vivian Fraser, Joan Haynes, Molly Peterson, Gertrude Placzek, Lynda McCoy, Mr. L. Beaman, Helen Washington, and Eleanor Palmer.
From this gathering, a new club was formed, and the first executive was elected.
Since its founding, the Tyee Kennel Club has grown to support and sponsor a variety of dog shows, training programs, events, and charitable initiatives, becoming a cornerstone of the local dog-loving community.
